Since it was described in 1980, percutaneous endo- scopic gastrostomy (PEG) has been a widely used method for insertion of a gastrostomy tube in patients who are unable to swallow or maintain adequate nutri- tion (1). PEG is a safe and easy method to improve nutri- tional status of patients with low mortality and compli- cation rates (2,3).
